Been sober for week now and this the hardest it’s

Been sober for week now and this the hardest it’s ever been for me. I get irritable and overwhelmed so quick and seems like my mood goes up and down. I pray about it that helps me cope. But when I get the cravings I need a method to help with the racings thoughts during my cravings :pensive: I refuse to be the old me and use again I came to far.

Way to Go❤️ Key word I liked was Pray. Maybe our Higher Power could take away All of the symptoms You mentioned above? We are not that powerful but He is. So why? One Beautiful reason, to build our quite, personal relationship with our Higher Power. Learning to lean on our Higher Power through the toughest times and see His direction on who, what and when to take action❤️

Just remember that the emotions are normal, the irritability is normal, it will all be worth it with time! I know what you mean about the cravings, it’s not easy! Focus on self care, and don’t forget to reward yourself with healthier things! :two_hearts:

A few things that help me when I have the racing thoughts are breath work (so simple but it really works) box breathing specifically. Exercise meditation and getting into a meeting tend to do the trick.

Try taking in some OJ and honey. Or sweets. It helps with cravings.
Having said that...

Men and women drink essentially because they like the effect produced by alcohol. The sensation is so elusive that, while they admit it is injurious, they cannot after a time differentiate the true from the false. To them, their alcoholic life seems the only normal one.

They are restless, irritable and discontented

unless they can again experience the sense of ease and comfort which comes at once by taking a few drinks—drinks which they see others taking with impunity. After they have succumbed to the desire again, as so many do, and the

phenomenon of craving develops,

they pass through the well-known stages of a spree, emerging remorseful, with a firm resolution not to drink again. This is repeated over and over, and unless this person can experience an

entire psychic change

there is very little hope of his or her recovery.”

This psychic change is acquired by going to AA meetings, getting a sponsor and taking the 12 steps.

Your cravings are “normal”. Are you in AA? Do you have a sponsor? Prayer is very powerful but you need to put as many things as you can between you and that first drink. If I didn’t have AA I may still be sober but I wouldn’t be free and on the road to happiness.
