Been struggling with sobriety as I just turned 21 thoughts on how to cope?
Well, if I may just add a bit of perspective here... If you're just now turning 21 today and have already identified that you are prone to addiction, then you are probably right where you need to be with not drinking. I say this as someone who was a full on alcoholic by 19. You have a great opportunity to save yourselves years and years of heartache, trauma health issues and emotional damage by letting it be. Age is just a number, bud. When you turn 41, you'll look back and laugh at how insignificant thay "rite of passage" really was. But ask yourself.. Would you rather look back at 41 with a heavy heart of guilt, shame and heartache, or a heart of success, achievements and a family you're proud to have been able to be a part of?? Take it from someone who didn't figure it out until 34... Life is much better when you're in control over it. Grab the wheel and embrace the challenges ahead. Will there be hard days? Of course. Will there be sad days? Plenty. But how you learn to deal with them now will make your life much easier. Take control and run with it!

My addictions started getting really bad at roughly that same age. This is when I added being a drug addict to my alcoholism.
Now I’m 28, and when I look back on everything that’s happened the last 7 years; there is not one part of me that wishes I had drank/used more, but every part of me that wishes I would have traveled, learned a new sport, studied a new language, volunteered in my community, and just lived greater!
Don’t cope, rejoice that you have learned now what most never do. There is peace in a sober future, choose to see how lucky you are.

Happy birthday 21.happy again for realizing you my have a problem.good job.I was 26 years old when I got sober.now I am 35 years.with the help of tones of people and a higher power.
