My son has special needs. I can relate

My biological daughter has angelmans syndrome. Know you are so strong for doing that and facing an addiction. Be glad you have the ability to know what that feels like..

I have many special people in my family and I don't know the loneliness that it may bring. I do know the know the joy of having them in my life though. They light my world up and are so unique that I can't even begin to speak how awesome they are. My cousin scooter is probably the happiest child I have ever met in life and he's so beautiful at heart too. I remember one time at a funeral my cousin Brenda who is very special broke the silence and brought so much peace into our lives that day. We all forgot about the sadness and just focused on how full of life she was. The things they say and do can make the most broke of hearts complete once again. Again, I don't know the loneliness and challenges that come with having a child so amazing brings. But I do know that on you're darkest day they child will be the light for you. I am huge supporter of autism and actually have a tattoo on my wrist along with breast cancer for the strong women in my life that have fought it and have lost the battle to it. I'll leave you with this. I had a boss once who was so upset that his son was special that I actually ripped him a new one for it. A beautiful woman who I worked for once had a son with down syndrome and she made it very clear how blessed you are to have that child. She has daughters who are not as special and those girls will eventually leave her one day and go on to do their own thing. Now Matt(her son) will always be in her life because he needs her and that is the greatest gift a parent can ever have in life. A child who will always be in their life and never ever allow them to be lonely. I do hope this helps and you find that you are not alone but extremely blessed and very fortunate to have that beautiful and amazing soul in your life forever.

I have an older son that’s 17 that has 80 HD and then I have a son that’s 13 that has chromosome 15 duplex so I feel you

I can't relate as a parent. But your feelings are valid. I have an uncle and some cousins who have autism. I love them, we have a great time together- but it can be overwhelming at times. Hang in there.
