Benefits of Sobriety

“Replace 'why is this happening to me' with 'what is this trying to teach me' and your mindset will change. You’re not going to master the rest of your life in one day. Just relax. Master the day. Then just keep doing that every day.”

You’re welcome!

I believe that changing our mindset is the key to long term sobriety, as well as living a more peaceful and happy life. For me, this change is a very slow process that takes place as I practice my daily recovery plan. Furthermore, after years of struggling on and off with several addictions, today I believe that this too is ODAAT. In fact, looking back at my last relapse (after 25 years of no alcohol/drugs) I can see that way before I picked up that drink/drug again, I stopped practicing my daily program of recovery. I was staying clean by just not drinking ODAAT. My mindset slowly regressed back to a point where I was miserable once again. Full of resentments and fear, I needed to escape my sick mind and pick up that drink once again. Thanks for the reminder!!!

I can hear "one day at a time."

Dylan, I cannot thank you enough for this post, your share.

I want to frame the image, the words which accompany…I will be revisiting this again and again!
