Birthday ‘Bender’

So I hopped off the train to celebrate my bday and after 4 celebrations of indulgence I feel totally bloated, dehydrated & lethargic. Also have been nauseous. It’s crazy how poisonous alcohol is yet when it’s part of a routine you don’t feel it. Cant wait to cleanse!!

Ps- Is anyone else out there who allows alcohol from time to time? Do you also experience these feelings?

Nope.

Sobriety isn’t a part time job.

Not anymore but when I did I’d vomit.

Alcohol at anytime isn’t an option for me. Feeling that way is what stopped my drinking and I have no interest in going back to feeling that way. I think you might be at a point where you should rethink your conception of what sobriety means.

Never again.

Great input guys! Thanks so much!! Love the honesty!! Xoxo

I’m the type of alcoholic who cannot ever stop before oblivion. The only way to avoid it is by avoiding the first drink.

Don’t misunderstand this. I am capable of having 1 beer tonight. But tomorrow I’ll be so proud of my mastery of my drinking that I’ll allow myself 2 next time. Or maybe 2 and a shot. And so it goes until I’m buried in guilt and shame, and probably court cases.

Thank you for your transparency!!

Danielle, I completely understand where you’re coming from. I go off the edge thinking what the f$@& life is for living and indulging then I feel like sh$t and guilty later. It’s like I do this on purpose now and then just because I want to and I don’t care about consequences. What is that all about. I talk to a therapist, I think that’s helpful

Thanks for your honesty!!! I also have a therapist. She really helps but every now and then I let go then pick back up & keep moving forward.

I had to go 100% clean. It was never just one. It’s impossible for an addict to stop

Life is better sober. I did that for a year and I realized it’s not worth it. Being sober gives you the ultimate buzz. And it’s damn good!
