Hello all. So I'm only a week in sobriety and I want to embrace this new lifestyle and surround myself with other sober people. I don't want to be just shut in and alone all the time but I do have reservations about going to AA meetings because I do not believe in god and Im worried that I won't be accepted by many due to my non beliefs. Just hoping to get some feedback on that topic to help me determine whether or not meetings may be something to get involved with. Thank you!
Hi Sam, nice to meet you. My name is Alexandria and I’ve been in this process self sobriety for some time now the people in AA really don’t bother with who believes in God and who doesn’t the fellowship of AA is a spiritual program not a religious program so you will be Accepted and receive an open arms in every meeting that you go to. We’re just glad you’re here the concept of God is between you and him. You can use the people in recovery the fellowship as your higher power, which is what we call God GOD a group of drunks😀 try it I’m sure you’ll like it. Most of the people. Recovery are happy to see a new cover and will offer as much help to you as they can. That’s what we’re about if we work the program of Recovery properly.
Will be happy to see a Newcomer
Thank you so much for your feedback and that does make me feel a lot better when considering going to meetings I just know that a 12-step program does involve a higher power and I wasn't sure exactly what that means. Thank you so much!
