Can’t beat the urge

Everyday i wake up thinking I’m not going to drink that day. By mid afternoon I’m alert at the store. I don’t know how to beat these urges!!!

I tried to quit for a year and a half. Everyday I’d cave in and feed the beast. I couldn’t fight the urges. If I tried to quit the withdrawals were absolutely terrible. Ultimately I checked myself into rehab where I had excellent medical care.

Firstly in my readings of the big book … there has to be both a spiritual awakening and a psychic change…

Renee, I’ve been where you are hundreds of times😱. The great news is that I broke the insane cycle and you can too. The reality for me was that I finally ran myself through the wringer and couldn’t take the pain anymore. Then I got real serious about the AA program and went to meetings every morning and every night for awhile. Got sponsored, did the 12 steps multiple times and created a great life for myself. 16 years later and I am so grateful not to be a slave to my addiction.
Sobriety is the easier and funner way!
I’m here if you want to talk

Sit, still, and don't move. It will pass, it's only a feeling

Thank you

Don't keep money on hand. Cancel your bank card. Make a list stick by it and only take the money that you need once you go into the teller with an ID to get it. That's how I had to do that

Maybe medication to keep the cravings down might help you. Do you have support around you?
