Can you date someone who drinks heavily while sober?

As somebody who used to be the heavy drinker in this scenario - never dated anybody in recovery, but I was always the drinker in relationships - I don’t see it working and more often than not it just slowly breeds resentment until something major happens and it all boils over. Most of the women were as kind about my drinking as they could be until they reached their breaking point. It certainly wasn’t something that resolved itself.

Unless you want to go down that road again yourself, i beyond strongly suggest you run, FAR…you cannot change people…I’ve been in recovery for 7 years and I’ve tried this more times then I can count, it almost never ends well for yourself…it’s the sole reason I only have 1 year sober instead of 7

Run!! I don’t wanna sound mean or inconsiderate that’s not my intention.
There are plenty of us alcoholics and addicts that are nice really sweet caring considerate thoughtful and less goes on. Until the drugs or alcohol stop working doesn’t give that feeling anymore. So I keep looking for that feeling by doing more drugs or
alcohol

Very true, it has only been one month and I’ve already felt myself questioning my sobriety. I appreciate all your advise. It’s like every time I miss him I get a new message of exactly what I need to hear

Don't risk it girl. Lay down that boundary now, early on. Tell him your future and your own sobriety aren't something you can risk to accommodate his own lifestyle choices that don't align with yours.
