Chasing the darkness - a friend sent this to me this evening & I immediately started crying. I feel like we can all probably relate to this. Hold on, my dear friends, it gets better
I relate and am so grateful for yet another opportunity to let go if the aspects of life which no longer serve me ( in the case of alcohol, never did serve any benefit ). Thank you for sharing along, Arianna.
Pardon my typo, “ of “ (rather)…
Grateful that I get the chance to pass this message along & that it has resonated with you
This hits real hard for me
It did for me too
"I still feel like chasing the darkness, because I don't exactly know who I am without it." Is the exact reason why we feel comfortable in depression when using. But stop using and depression becomes a battle you can't feel happy in any more. Very deep and I'm grateful I was a able to see this and could relate.
Yep! Sobriety challenges us to do better… it hurt to read this quote but it is the kind of pain that sparks something inside of us, moving us to act
I agree a
pain is the reason I have so much today. Almost 7 months ago I lost everything I ever needed and loved. Through the pain I just became driven to better myself. Like a motivation and swift kick to the (you know what) I got my tail in high speed and haven't looked back. I still carry some of it but that's my choice. There's certain pain thats hard to let go of but still is very healthy towards helping you achieve goals. By the way the love letter you wrote yourself was the most beautiful and encouraging words I ever read someone tell theirself. I still haven't been able to write myself one. It's very hard to love yourself after all you've done.
Healing takes time! Don’t rush yourself. I still have lots of parts of myself to forgive and heal. Some days are better than others too. Even if you can’t write a full on love letter, you could write a letter to your former self, trying to forgive… or even a letter to your future self, thanking them for all the work they have done. Honor your journey - it’s sacred and special because it belongs to only you.
I've been thinking about what you replied all day. You're absolutely right I owe it my future self to know I made mistakes but had the courage to fix myself to stop them from happening again. Thanks for the reminder..Have a great day and don't forget to own it.
Thank you! You too!
