Cinco de Mayo 🌮

Anyone else find it a little harder during the typical “drinking” holidays, like today - Cinco de Mayo?

I know I’ve been quiet, but I’m still here! Still sober! 90 Days woohoo…

Normally I would be downing margaritas today. I honestly feel great that I won’t be doing that this year. I won’t show up for work hungover tomorrow. But a tiny little part of me does feel like I’m missing out. Anyone else relate?

I’ll celebrate this year with some yummy Mexican takeout. And I’ll watch the new episode of Halo with my husband :alien:

What are you guys doing to celebrate instead of drinking?

Funny you should ask…
My wife is part Mexican, and we have several Mexican friends. Tonight we have a few couples coming over for a little fiesta at the house. I’ve been kinda dreading it. Although the food is going to be great, the tequila will be flowing. The great news is my wife just informed me she invited my friend from AA. He’s got 33 years sober! The wife of one of our friends is not a drinker, but she’s not “in the program”. My wife has been much better about being mindful of me being comfortable. I definitely appreciate it because I was the only one not drinking for 20 plus years…until I relapsed. I didn’t realize how much I hated being the only non drinker and how lonely and isolated I felt. Hope you enjoy a sober cinco de mayo!!

I kinda miss being “part of the group” that’s probably the hardest part for me. Being involved with the festivities but not part of the festivities. I agree about not waking up feeling like a bag of squashed @ss. Congrats on the 90! That’s fantastic. I am spending the day running kids to and from activities. So lots of chilling in the truck waiting…. The life of a dad.
