Coming up on 50 days sober followed by a break-up

Coming up on 50 days sober followed by a break-up (yes...related to my drinking). Not tempted to drink but the pain and heartbreak is overwhelming & paralyzing. Anyone with any experience that care to share advice?

Congrats on Day 50.

I can't relate to the break-up related to drinking. Commenting for reach.

Congrats on 50 Days. Sorry about the breakup. Stay Strong and the heartache will pass and make you stronger and wiser. Tinton Falls here

I just scared away the love of my life because I was drinking and acting out of character. Day 2. I never want to drink alcohol again

Let's just work on making ourselves better, grow, and find peace. If its to be, its to be. I know for a fact that she won't take the person back that I was when she last saw me.

I’m sorry for your break up Bob. One thing I can say is we must continue to focus on ourselves as in growing spiritually and our recovery is first… relationships will heal or new ones will form…
Worrying about the past or dwelling on what the future may hold with that relationship will only cause more pain and suffering.
I understand that it’s not easy but I was told that five years from now you’ll look back and say why did I spend so much time worrying about something that was out of my control.

Keep your head up. God removed those who are no longer serving us in a positive spiritual direction. Doesn’t mean down the road the relationship can’t mend.

I was one that focused on my ex wife so much and how she hurt me, what’s she was doing, who she was seeing… just a waste of time. As soon as I put recovery first, followed directions of those in my support group, and did the work my life became amazingly beautiful. I don’t worry about her… sometimes it does creep in there… but the tools I have work very well for these situations. Quickly see my part before it becomes a resentment. Looking for any fear. Then talk it out with another person at once… even write it out if it causes me to waste too much of my time and head space…

Cry, shed some tears for the loss, journaling about her and your feelings/emotions. If angry Dona fourth step and then a fifth step. 6 and 7 will follow…
God bless you my friend.

Hey Bob, I’m 57 days sober and while I was in rehab in February my bf broke up with me and we lived together. It’s heartbreaking because I screwed up when drinking and the lies, he says he just can’t trust me. Hard pill to swallow but all I can do is keep moving forward, clean up my side of the street, and if it’s meant to be it will be. You aren’t alone friend, they say it gets better and that’s the hope I hold on to

Lisa, thank you for sharing that. We have a lot in common both with the timing and the circumstances. She told me the same thing...she couldn't trust me.
That being said, it looks like we are both on the right path. I hope it all works out for you. Stay the course.
