Confronting social isolation

Other than meetings, i dont do much. I work full time but hit 7 meetings a week. When i first started getting sober, i wouldn't talk in front of people very well i would get stuck in my thoughts and the words wouldn't come out how i wanted. Thats when i started journaling in the meeting on the topic and at first i had to recite what i wrote. Then it became a little easier to speak without the aid of the words in front of me. I would really recommend ticket meetings for anyone who has fear of public speaking and journaling if you lose your thoughts under pressure. The more you practice the easier and more natural it becomes. If i dont make the effort to connect with others i cant expect others to connect with me. It's still work, but it's becoming a habit to speak and let people in rather than shutting down in fear.

When we get sick and tired of being sick and tired, we become willing…willing to go to any lengths. Us alcoholics/addicts are a rare breed lol. We literally have to hit a demoralizing bottom before we become willing. Some of us fight this until the death. I appreciate you sharing your experience, strength, and hope with us. It’s nice to hear it’s working for you
