I’m finding that the hardest part of sobriety for me is managing my anxiety. I grew up in an unpredictable, unstable, neglectful household, and to cope I developed an intense need to have control to feel any sense of calm. In adulthood, I learned we can’t control everything but I’ve still tried. A big part of my recovery journey will have to be finding ways to appropriately and healthily give up that control that I’ve had a vice grip on since childhood - that’s the real work.

I feel this, this has been my experience as well. Sobriety had allowed me to get into therapy and stick with it.

I’m in therapy too, and it’s the best thing I have done for myself other than staying sober!
