7 days in and im struggling with night time craving to drink. Any tips/advice?
I kept no liquor in the house (obviously) …. I made it a point to stay home at night, because I knew if I went out I was gonna drink .. I went to work the gym and grocery before I went home so I didn’t have to go out at night …. Congratulations on the 7 days !!!!
Unlike Al, I try and fill my evening hours with sober activities (gym, walking, movies, plays, talking with friends) since for me the worst thing I can do is sit at home alone and think too much about myself and dwell on problems. Some type of meeting might be helpful too. Congrats!
Juliana find a AA meeting get connected with a sponsor they can guide you and give you great advice to help you along your path. Stay strong and blessed.
Everyone is different and that helped me in the beginning stage of my sobriety and helped me celebrate my first year on April 3rd
True..we are all different! For me I have to continue to avoid situations where everyone else is drinking (that's been my downfall in the past if I'm around it) I'm 28 days today sober. I'm fortunate to be an artist so I have that to "lose" myself in...anything I can really get into and distract myself and keep busy with
Craving is the active enemy for us! Like everyone has said, people places and things may need to be changed. People are resistant to AA buy it works. You need to stack up as many obstacles as you can between you and they first drink and/or hit. I didn’t believe it when it was told to me but a temporary distraction, some task even if it’s menial can help. The craving will pass. You also can always depend on the most basic distraction… make a phone call. He’ll call me if you have to 917-696-5562. Get to know someone on the other coast! Do not drink.
