Cruising along now 8 days in. Does anyone find it

Cruising along now 8 days in. Does anyone find it helpful to count the days? My wife says it’s discouraging and better to just focus on living your life. But when I count I cherish and thank God for another day where I am bettering myself and getting closer to self-actualization.

To each there own. I prefer counting years. Lol. Coming up on another one soon. Some folk do days. Got a friend who counts hours and minutes. Coming up on a year. Whatever you feel comfortable with is all that matters. It’s your path.

Day 1 here. 8 days seems awesome, keep going, with all this free time you can learn new hobbies become an actual new cool awesome person your wife loves

Count the days, but live each one 24hours at a time. A sobriety date is important for so many reasons. It’s a commitment to your recovery. It’s a date that you own and want to protect. It’s not the only thing that will keep you sober, but it’s one of the things and we need as many things as we can get.

Shawn said it.it worked for me .years.means more than people think.aa :dromedary_camel:

Personally I wouldn’t consider it discouraging. Brings a little more accountability generally. Most people seem to react that they don’t want to throw away the time they’ve earned.

It definitely helps me to count the days, everyday is a blessing and a miracle to make it through sober it’s a huge accomplishment and something to be extremely proud of!

I no some one who had 32 years . And drink.
