Today I found out that I lost a friend in the program. More of a mentor, since she was the Director of the last rehab facility I attended in Taos, NM almost two years ago. This woman was “double digits” sober, oversaw rehab programs, taught recovering alcoholics and addicts about the “disease.” She was very involved in the AA community here in New Mexico. We believe she was sober when she decided to take her own life. Just shows that even if we are “sober” from alcohol and drugs, other mental health issues can be an ongoing issue for some of us in recovery and we need to seek additional help if needed. RIP Ms. Jae. I am forever grateful to you and Vista Taos Renewal Center.

Sorry to hear this tragic news. She helped a lot of people, but unfortunately she ultimately wasn’t able to help herself get out of whatever mental funk she was in. May she RIP
I understand personally how mental health can effect you. I am sorry for your pain. Hugs.
