It wasn't an option for me either until it was my only option of life or death. I needed 30 days away to endure the physical and emotional stuff and learn the tools to live sober

Join a twelve step program! It’s been so helpful to me and helped me get to 30 days. Find one near you and you will be welcomed with open arms I promise. Sending love and hope :blue_heart:

Hi James, I didn’t think 30 day inpatient was an option either. That’s what it took. I was scared of losing my job but I lost it anyway. IOP, Intensive Out Patient, is another option. Stay strong.

I'm not sure where you are located but where I am there is Access 24/7 they can offer support in the moment. 211 has multiple resources as well.

There is also a program called smart recovery!!

Let us know how you are doing and what steps you have taken.

You will not be able to do this alone.
I know-duh!
There are solid suggestions offered, above.

Go to AA even if you think it is not for you…there are other groups and communities as well; SMART, Refuge Recovery…
There are options.

Join an online meeting if going in person is too scary…and, or if you live in a small town without as many resources…get plugged in to some type of legitimate meeting / group.
Wishing you well and the strength to get and remain sober.
You are worth it.

James I don’t have much advice to you because everything I was going to say has already been written but I do want you to know that seeking help here is the first of many right steps to take. This app helped me and continues to help me when I need encouragement. Keep up with us daily.

I totally agree with Chris! This ap has given me so much encouragement over the last 3 years. I wish you well on your journey!!

The fact that you know you need help is half the battle , so go all in and beat this beast !!!! I personally needed inpatient bc it took away early temptations and gave me the chance to focus only on recovery !! You have to want it . I could also do NOTHING without my higher power which is for me, God and his son , Jesus Christ ! You CAN do this !!! Make this year the year you really start living !!

James, I’ve been where you are. I didn’t have the option either. But I had to medically detox for 3 days. Then I went to 3 AA meetings daily. I had to make MY SOBRIETY the #1 priority. Over finance, romance & even family. With sobriety I can have all of the above and so much more! Without sobriety I lose all of the above and so much more.
I’m here if you want to talk.

Step one is always detox*** some people have mixed feelings about medication assisted therapy but for me it saved and changed my life accompanied with celebrate recovery and working 12 steps. Everyone is different but you have to take the step to detox and get all the drugs out of your body and mind before you can heal your spirit  rehab helped me but when I got totally sober I went to detox, got on Suboxone and went to meetings every single day- dropped all the people I got High with and never looked back. Now I have a life I don’t even recognize sometimes it’s so great. We do recover- but you have to be ready to really start over and change the way you think. Don’t think so far ahead- take step one and get in detox and make good decisions one day at a time with help of guidance from a counselor. I wish you the best of luck- there is hope just gotta do it. And you can do it.

Thank you

I’ve had substantial sobriety I just fell off the wagon about a year ago
