Damn, I'm struggling so much and yet it's hard to stop drinking for one day
AA didn't work for me
AA is not a magical force that is going to remove from you the compulsion to drink. It takes work on your part. Acceptance is step one. Can you accept and admit that you are powerless over alcohol, and that your life has become unmanageable?
You should look into naltrexone. It’s really been helping me with cravings.
Hey Gordan
Hello Gordon, nobody said it was easy, especially in the beginning. You have to want it. And there is no going back ever. It doesn't work. There is only forward.
AA doesn't work for everyone but all meetings are not the same. It took me a couple of different ones to find the one that fit.
It is doable, you can do it and it is worth every second of being sober.
Agreed this is my evil hour - alcohol was only a sleeping pill for me... besides that i dont crave it but its 2am i just want sleep!
It’s more worth it than you can imagine and there’ll be periods where your current situation may suck, but it will literally always be worse if you were still using. Being sober makes getting off the mat doable and staying off the mat doable. Love yourself through the withdrawl and take care, you’ve got this
Hi Julie, thanks for reaching out
The first days are physically hard; after mentally hard. One day at a time and don't beat yourself up if you regress
Sure! I'm here if u need an ear!
I know how you feel.
I’m having a ROUGH time…NIGHTLY!
I'm here if you need support. It is not for the weak that's for damn sure.
So sorry dude I'm in the same boat with coca
If you go to aa .you can stop any time.just get started.
Hey Gordon, there are groups besides AA nut AA is the most common. You might want to read Alcohol Explained by William Porter. It is easy to read and understand. It made a lot of sense. Reach out anytime
Read the aa big book.
Focus on the long-term. Generally, a lot of scenarios that cause pain can lead to tremendous growth. Good luck, either you will be ready or something will happen that presents a more extreme decision, whether your ready or not. Get the help you need no matter what it is.
I remember those days so clearly. There is support! Keep reaching out. Try on meetings.... there are so many. AA, Refuge Recovery, SMART, Recovery Dharma and many more.
I am happy to share some of my favorites with you. Maybe even just starting to read the big book would help. There are millions like you. Maybe billions. You are not alone. Reach out, and keep reaching out. It really does help. And if you need a meeting buddy I'm totally down for any kind of meeting!
Keep trying. One day it will stick.
Sending love, light, and tons of support.
