You hate the meetings because something in your body is fighting, tricking you, any way possible to justify drinking. The meetings can be uncomfortable but it gets easier with each one! It takes work! You got this!

A better question might be what is right with me? Your assets are just as relevant as your liabilities. I went to AA and was sober for about six years but the last two years I had stopped going to AA and was white knuckling it. When I relapsed it took me ten years to pick myself up instead of a bottle. I essentially was trying to do it intellectually and without a sponsor. Then my wife became ill. I realized I hadn’t gotten all I needed. I had not turned my life over to my higher power.

That whole higher power thing? I have a relationship with Jesus Christ and he’s not helping me

Maybe try praying for “willingness.” Willingness to ask for help. Willingness to try something new. I’m not saying you do this, but most of us actively in our Alcoholism pray “selfishly.” We pray for what “we think” will get us out of a tough predicament, or what “we want,” an outcome to be. Just practice saying….thy will be done and see what happens….hang in there.

This is what my problem is I relate my higher power to a man and because I was abused as a child I don’t trust him I think that’s what’s happening here. Thank you so much for sharing

I did a zoom call in Reston Louisiana that I used to do and I feel better.
All meetings, no matter what banner they are under, are full of humans. Humans are, well, human. They will let you down sometimes. I'm sorry you've had bad experiences.
