Dating in Sobriety

How are you dealing with dating now that you’re sober? I avoided the relationship temptation in my first year but now I’m about to be at 16 months and it’s cuffing season lol

Almost 3 years for me and dating has been so so. Lots of dates, no connections. I think I enjoy my peace too much :joy::woman_shrugging:

I live in a town that is tough for dating as it is. Alcohol is part of the culture here and when I inform dates that I’m sober from alcohol I can see their interest fade in me. I don’t have a problem with potential partners consuming alcohol, as long as they have control. However, it seems to be off-putting for them, that I choose not to drink. I’ll make an effort to date from time to time but I’ve found that it’s easier to remain single. Reducing stress and drama has also drastically changed my dating life.

It seems to be a consensus here and yet I try to overcome the problem and yes it is a lot of pressing don’t need to navigate getting to know someone at my age and I want them to want the same experience I’ve had in AA and it’s not possible to explain that to them.

Dating is dead in 2022.

What a nightmare. I’ve been dating but that is about as far as it goes. Also because the pool is so small where I am currently living. Heading to Austin which I hope (fingers crossed) has better prospects. AND if it doesn’t happen I am quite content on my own.
