Awesome job!

And yes it is normal. Depending on the duration and amount you have been drinking, detox can take a bit. Jitters, a headache, stomach queasiness all part of it. Keep hydrated, and remember this is a marathon not a sprint. Be kind to yourself. You are going to have some feelings and thoughts pop up. That is the addiction trying to work it’s self back in. Just take it a day at a time. Reach out to people. You got this.

Yes,

when we're used to drinking everyday of our lives one day is absolutely huge. And we need people like you to remind us of what it's like after you relapse. Alcoholics are quick forgeters!

Oh and by the way, I was once a chronic relapser too. A month here, two months here, 3 months there.

It takes what it takes for all of us to get here and stay here.
I don't know if you're going to AA meetings or not but if you're not I highly recommend it.

Here's an app that is absolutely fantastic whether you have Apple or Android in helping you find meetings.

Thank you

I made a pledge on that I recite every day.

I journal everyday.

Everyday I communicate with other people in recovery.

I've chosen faith in God as my cornerstone. Certain programs will tell you that giving yourself up to a power higher than your own wants and control is essential to recovery.

I go to church every Sunday and I go to an AA meeting every week.

I shamelessly write about my progress in Recovery. Successes failures and the in-between moments.
My writing I try to be as brutally honest as possible and I feel like this helps me to examine my habits my hangups and the hurts that had me continuing to always look at drugs and alcohol as a coping mechanism for things I didn't want to deal with in life

I didn't list any of these things as a means of prideful accomplishment.

I just wanted this list to be available to you so that you can see there is hope in the many different practices that you choose to commit to. While attempting to live a sober life.

I'm only 10 months clean and sober. This small moment in time compared to all of the time that I was in my mess, even with the growing pains and moments of hopelessness, has been more fulfilling than anything I could ever remember.

Have a deep respect to those who admit that their own personal life has been deeply affected by drugs or alcohol. I have a deep love for those who are trying to make a change in any way possible.

That was beautiful… thank you

The one day, to choose it is amazing. I chose and I am watching someone I love with all my heart not.

One day is amazing for us, keep not drinking no matter what one day at a time and you can get an awesome life! But, remember (#1) it’s the first drink(don’t take it or drug no matter off, call someone, go to a meeting etc.) that is the killer of dreams—a future that can be fantastic! A woman(or man) takes a drink, a drink takes a drink, a drink takes a woman (or man) it’s the first drink that’s the killer! Also, go to meetings! There are apps that work w/zoom, in person meetings etc., speaker tapes and videos—just don’t hang out with your disease alone!—They say our head is a bad neighborhood, don’t go there alone—the disease(crazy committee/minions) don’t want you sober/happy/joyous and free! And get a sponsor—but don’t drink no matter what first then you a chance! because then you have time to take these suggestions and understand what we hope for you! Love and Light, Deb
