Day 1 again. I made a poor choice yesterday to have a drink. I’m on a trip in Vegas that I booked before I made the decision to get sober. I knew there would be a lot of temptation and was doing really well until I was at a pool party and thought “I can have just one.” I think I was feeling extra self-conscious being in a swim suit and feeling uptight and wanted to loosen up. Well, of course I didn’t have just one. (Even though you’d think that the price of $50 per drink would have been a deterrent.) 8 shots later and I am blacked out. Next thing I remember, I’m at the airport and the check-in lady is telling me I need to put on pants. I then realize I’m still in my swimsuit! So I go to change in the bathroom but then she tells me I can’t fly because I’m clearly intoxicated- at which point I start puking on a ticketing kiosk. I passed out on the floor and then somehow my boyfriend got me to a hotel but lost my purse somewhere along the way. We missed so many things I was looking forward to- including our reservation at Hells Kitchen that I made months ago. We are also missing a double date yoga class with friends tonight because we had to rebook our flights. I hate this so much. I hate drinking and I hate losing my stuff and I hate blacking out. I hate starting over after having made it almost 100 days.

I guess I needed the reminder about how bad it is and that I really do have a problem. The handover today is so rough. So proud of everyone on here who is putting in the work to be sober. It’s not easy!

Yea, Vegas is rough.. I've definitely been in your situation but I actually live here.. pool parties are my favorite.. I even work as a bottle service girl at the pools but I realized I can't be there if I'm not working.. too much temptation.. so I've had to let go of some friends who go to the pool on the regular, and it's tough seeing their pictures but I just limit my time on social media.. I'm sorry that happen to you. Next time you come to Vegas don't stay on the strip also Vegas has much more to offer off of the strip! And it's less expensive.. & at least you actually see the problem and want to start over

Thank you so much for sharing this.:yellow_heart: I’m glad you’re safe & you could have just continued on drinking, but you’re starting your journey again! That takes so much courage.:yellow_heart:

No worries :two_hearts: Y’all have a space here and in my heart. Always.

Thank you!!!

Thank you! That’s great advice. I’m amazed you can live and work there around the temptation. But you’re right about limiting social media. I have to do that too. Too many friends’ pics from raves and events that I’m not quite ready to face sober. Perhaps someday further along this path when I can trust myself more to stick to my commitments. :two_hearts::two_hearts::two_hearts:

Thanks Rachel!

Day 3

I think we do. I’m in the PNW too! Over near Central WA U. Relocated here from Mill Creek two years ago.

Thank you for sharing your story. I have similar stories too, I am unfortunately a black out drunk as well. No moderation at all. Next time you think about drinking, think about your top 3 worst drunk memories. So far that has been helping me... because, like I said, I was a black out drunk.

Don't beat yourself up, but pick yourself up. Always reflect and write down this question and following answers, "what did I learn?" Because that's what a relapse should be, a hard lesson. You got this! I had 4 years and picked up. Learned A LOT.

You didn’t lose those almost 100 days and clearly you’ve gained insight from that lapse. You have another day clean today! :muscle:

You are not alone. I have been there many times. Dwelling on the past prevents you from learning from the past. They are different emotions. Dwelling is negative, learning is positive. I listened/listen to podcasts on addiction. The Craving Brain and The Neuroscience of Addiction - Marc Lewis really helped me. Educating myself on addiction has helped me stack up over three years of sobriety.
