Day 1 again.
Why do I do this to myself? I thought I was a better and stronger person than this. I thought I would succeed. I thought I knew that the relapse before this one was the last. I didn’t know how hard this would be.
You can not do it by yourself. Get a program. AA or any of the other ones out there. Get a recovery partner, sponsor, anyone who can keep you accountable and who you can call if you have an urge. You can do it! You need to believe in yourself!
Normal feelings, but know it’s not about how good or strong you are, it’s more than that. Relapses happen. Good advice above that I won’t repeat. You can do this if you want to, the group is priceless.
Sorry for your struggles Cat. Hope you have learned things will help you as you continue on with your recovery journey. One day you will look back and be grateful for all of the lessons. I’m not sure what you do to stay sober, but I found that a daily spiritual program works well for me.
The fall does not matter, getting back up is what does.
It is hard, each day is a new day! Sometimes we got to learn the hard way… it can be a reminder of the why. You got this!!!
Hey Cat kick yourself in the a-ss and start over. It's really that simple. Now read Alcohol Explained by William Porter it's easy to read and understand what Alcohol does to keep you addicted. Gillian Tietz has a website and podcast Sober Powered she explains first hand how Alcohol affects us.
I know you can do this. Now do it. Reach out anytime
Find others who are doing the same thing (meetings). Strength in numbers is real.
Hello lovely, I am in the same boat. I had 33 days under my belt and fell off .. it wasn't fun... It wasn't worth the guilt and shame I felt. Not to mention the anxiety I woke up with the next day and the feeling of having to start all over again. But, at least now we know and we can always remember the way it made us feel afterwards.. it ruins things... It's poison... It's no longer a good time and it sucks but, it's the truth
Don’t be hard on your self. It takes practice. Some times you need to find different way to approach it. Some people try gyms others find hobbies or meetings medical help. Or you find it with in you the strength to say I’m done! I can’t no more! How I see it if any you are doing it’s lost it’s joy or messing things up. It’s time to stop. It’s life or your body telling you this ain’t good.
Me too cat. So hard.
Thats ok! Keep going! You can do this!
Thanks so much everyone for the support! I really appreciate it and feel motivated to keep going. It’s my birthday today and I’m happy to be sober.
Great advice! Thanks for sharing
