Day 1… Again

Went to the emergency room last night after my relapse. I’m doing things a little differently this time and I’m moving back in with my parents. I can’t do this alone, and I’ve come to terms with that. I feel very lucky for this community, so thank all of you for your kindness and support.

I’ve heard everyone’s recovery is/looks different so don’t beat yourself up over this set back. It’s almost a given that we will have a slip here and there but the important part is to get back on that wagon and know we’re all here for you!

I also had to move back in with my mom after my last relapse and it ended up being the best thing for me. It is rough for sure but having that constant support has been crucial to my recovery. Please reach out if you want to chat about it  you got this!!

You have that day one. Keep your head up. We've all been there. I'm very grateful to have today. In sobriety I'm a believer that all we have is today. Stack those days! You got this!

You never truly go back to day one. You do not lose what you have already gained in knowledge. Since it is only one day at a time we only ever have today. The person with the most sobriety is the individual who woke up first.

Please call someone IN recovery BEFORE you pick up a substance. That may keep you out of the ER.

Relapse is a part of my story, and the story of most of the people that I personally know in recovery. The last time that I relapsed, I ended up in the hospital too (after suffering a minor stroke, a minor heart attack, and a spinal cord injury from hitting my neck and back when I fell). At least you're alive and you're back on the road of recovery!

Relapse happens. It’s how we recover that matters. It sounds like you are making positive changes this time.
