Day 1: I hate day ones, they are usually full of guilt and shame. I’m committed to recovery, it feels different this time. I’m so sick of disappointing people I care about, so sick of sneaking and lying about alcohol. I need a good support of people who are going through the same things so that’s why I’m here.
Welcome and congratulations on day one! Be gentle with yourself, you have been through enough. You can do it!
Hi Melissa. Closet alcoholic here. I understand. First step is the acknowledgement. I know the lies. Did it for years. Need to reach out, let me know! Love to listen.
Day one or one day ? You’ve got this baby keep pushing through it . It’s so hard but it’s so rewarding and I believe in you !!!! You’re on your way to a beautiful life !!!
I say very lovingly that I hope it hurts.
For your sake.
Join us ! Get with someone who will read the book to you and hand down the truths so plain an awesome that makes the program simple not always easy but it’s worth it to find out just how amazing your self can be to another.
You are unique and useful.
See ya around!!!
Congratulations Melissa and welcome back! What you are feeling is so normal but remember that feelings are not facts and our egos will lie to us to try to keep us in that place of shame. You are sober now and that is all that matters today. One day your experience of coming back can help another alcoholic who is struggling and thinks there is no way out. It is not our job to judge the worth of what we have to offer others based on time, but to keep offering it regardless. My best advice though, is to stick with the winners this time. Fellowship with other new comers can definitely be comforting and always keep expanding your network. But the women in the rooms with longer term, good sobriety are the ones you want to stick with right now. Let them teach you how they do it and try your best to always remain teachable. You've got this!!
Thank you so much! Maybe we can get to know each other and support each other on the journey! I need to create a tribe.
Thanks Tim, I appreciate the sentiment, you are very right, I need to be gentle. I’m trying to give some self love, at least my last hangover is gone and I can focus on sleep
Thank you Brittany! Let’s rock this thing! How has your day been? Where are you in your journey?
My day has not been easy. I just found out I lost a dear friend to an unfortunate heroin/fentanyl overdose . So I am heart broken, but I am here . I’m currently 86 days sober. The more of my loved ones I lose the easier it gets but I still have bad days. 😮💨 I am always here if you need a friend ! Never hesitate to reach out ! Here’s to day two soon yeah ?? You got this.
Thank you so much. I really need the tools right now to get through these first days and then begin to build from there. Any advice is always welcome!
I totally feel where you are coming from. I just got through that day 1 a couple of days ago. Glad you (I as well) have found a place where people are so supportive. Keeping my fingers crossed for your recovery!
Wow I’m so sorry… you are blessed to have so many sober days and to be able to process through that instead of using. I’m proud of you! Here’s to day 2 and day 87!
This seems to be a great community, congratulations on staying sober!! One day at a time. We can do this
Melissa today is my day one and I am in the exact same position as you. I must not be lying real well because my husband was kinda crying and asked me this morning if I was ever going to get help for my drinking. This seems to be a great place to start.
Also my day 1 and no shame here. Been going on for almost 20 years. Guilt and sadness are a fact but a waste of time. The fact it's different is an awesome thing!
I look at it differently. Day one is the best day ever. That is the day you made the choice to change. The day your life starts getting better and the day you are able to look back in a few days to couple years and say,"what a journey it has been. Dam* I'm so proud of myself for doing this for ME." Stay positive and look at everything as moment of happiness..
That's a great attitude my friend. Very positive and glad you're here. Just think tomorrow is going to be day 2 and week from today it'll be a week.. keep moving forward and spreading the good vibes.
I love the way you put that, thank you! Congratulations on your day one, you are stronger than you think! Make it your last day one!!!
