Abigail, maybe you should have medical help with detox. Please take care of yourself and reach out to someone you can trust. Detox can be terrible. Also, I am here if you want to reach out
Men and women drink essentially because they like the affect produced by alcohol. The sensation is so elusive that, while they admit it is injurious, they cannot after a time differentiate the true from the false. To them, their alcoholic life seems the only normal one. They are restless, irritable and discontented, unless they can again experiencethe sense of ease and comfort which comes at once by taking a few drinks-drinks which they see others taking with impunity. After they have succumbed to the desire again, as so many people do, and the phenomenon of craving develops, they pass through the well-known stages of a spree, emerging remorseful, with a firm resolution not to drink again. This is repeated over and over, and unless this person can experience an entire psychic change there is very little hope of his recovery.
On the other hand- and strange as this may seem to those who do not understand-once a psychic change has occurred, the very same person who seemed doomed, who had so many problems he despaired of ever solving them, suddenly finds himself easily able to control his desire for alcohol, the only effort necessary being that required to follow a few simple rules.

Also, all of us addicts love you and are grateful youre here trying!
Thank you! Today has been hard. But I’m grateful for you all and for getting to bed sober.
Thank u for saying that Austen . I love you all too!!!!!
Glad you’re reaching out. Detox is awful. It speaks to our strength and perseverance that we crawl out of the he11 hole and stand ready to fight the good fight. Don’t know why we go after it again and again. Took me 5 years to finally surrender. Didn’t have any idea how to surrender. IOP and AA have been the ticket. And a lot of hard work. Just remember that it is worth it.
This is life and death. Fight like everything that matters to you depends on it because does!!
Please talk to your doctor before detoxing by yourself.
Seriously, you need to go get some Librium or go to a medical detox.
Best advice ever!!!
That clip from the doctor's opinion is what got my head on straight!
I try to post this for newcomers all the time.
