It's been day 1 multiple times. I've been trying to stay sober and the most I've been able to do is 2 weeks. I need help.
I'd like to have a plan or a guide on how to maintain my sobriety. Drinking has caused 90% of my life issues. I've lost everything because of it. It's taken me years to finally get back on my feet but I see it slowly slipping away if I don't stay alcohol free.
I had almost 30 days and slipped up yesterday. We are all in this together. I feel you. Day one again for me today too. As it says, we deal with alcohol cunning baffling and powerful. We must stand together.
I live in a very small town. The only AA services they have to offer here are during my work hrs. I've tried group chats but it only takes me so far. I am looking forward to checking in and communicating about everything that comes with this journey. Thank you all for the positivity. It does help a lot to hear other people's testimonies.
Day 2 second time as a 2 day streak. Let's do this guys
I made a plan for my stepdad when I was a young kid. I put the oz of alcohol he normally drinks for week one. Reduced it by 12 oz a day each week and wrote it in simple terms based on what type of can size he normally used. Since they were 20 oz bottles and 12 oz cans (if I remember right) I wrote it in cans and bottles to make it easier for him.
I don't know if this would actually work for anyone because his older and biological daughter got really angry about it so he stopped using it.
For me I am doing cold turkey. Alcohol is not my main addiction. I am going to need to replace it with healthier addictions. Like walking, playing Duolingo or something. Let's see how it goes
Her reaction was of an older kid rejecting ideas of a newcomer kid. I have kids old enough to be kids now so that was a lifetime ago. But I really don't know how this works because I don't know anyone that is sober besides my kid and his wife and he has been sober most of his young adult life.
I have so many questions. Are we all talking about Alcoholic sobriety in this group or are there other forms of sobriety that this group encompasses?
My son maintains his mental health with a lot of hobbies. I might need to learn more from my kid. I'm so proud of him.
Great idea
