Day 11.....started out good but by noon I am sad, missing my ex husband so much. This is a big relapse issue for me....missing him. It's been so many years and most of the time I know logically we needed to part but my heart
just doesn't buy into it. No matter how many years pass...I will always love him and that's got to be just OK so long as I don't stop living my life because of that fact anymore. Ugh.
I’m sorry for your sadness Kelly
. It’s ok to miss him. Just as it’s ok to miss drinking sometimes as well. Both things were not healthy for you. Both things were causing you great harm. We say in recovery to think the drink thru. Don’t romanticize the drinking. Think of all of the pain and consequences that came with it. It’s not just a drink, it’s a wretched life of pain. It’s kinda the same thing with the ex. You can reminisce, but think it all the way thru. I don’t know if this helps, but I hope it gives you a little peace of mind that you are exactly where you need to be.
Thank you so much Lee. You are spot on with both issues. I appreciate you so much.
I Def want to drink. But it will pass. Guess if it was easy we wouldn't be here. Did 2 meetings yesterday...prob do one tonight.
I was sad. You just got to put yourself out there. Not with people, go to outdoors if you can, get in mirror argue with yourself, and say I'm amazing, I can be loved, ect.
Oh I know, I actually have no problem with that and have very successful relationships with men, my folks, my kids, coworkers etc. I just happen to miss this one person. We were together 1983 to 2009 so that's a long time, a lot of history and grown children.
Look into emotional sobriety on YouTube. They have a breakdown of a letter which has been profoundly helpful to me in dealing w/ myself and others.
I'll check that out Mike! Thanks.
