Hang in there…they slow down and go away eventually

Sometimes too much sodium makes me feel like that the next day.

I had drinking dreams up til around 8 months sober, I used to feel so ashamed then I would wake up and realize it was a dream, scary :poop: but they too, shall pass

They apparently start to decrease and eventually stop

Give yourself some grace. 20 days is great!! Healing is a process. Recovery is not linear. Good moments and bad, but with every breath we get further from the bottle that used to rob us of our very lives.

Everyone is different but I’d get to a meeting (I was taught if I have nothing better to do go to a meeting)β€”and entertaining my disease(like using dreams) is definitely not headed anywhere healthyβ€”zoom meetings AA meeting guide app has been a blessing/God send for me as well as, googling AA Speaker tapes and listening etc(steps, sponsor…)! :dove:🫢:hugs:β€β€πŸ©Ή:pray:t2:

Awesome job on #20! I’m 4 behind you. Keep it up chickie

You too :raising_hand_woman:t3:

I've had a few of those too. What a trip, right? I thought I was going nuts, but relieved to learn they're not uncommon.

So weird. Maybe after your body fully adjusts to not having alcohol in it???? Dunno.

Don't mean to laugh, but that is kind of funny. If that it happened to me I'd probably giggle after I realized it. :grinning:

Yep, I’ve had those, even after 3 years, every once in a while I have a relapse dream or wake up and briefly feel hungover. Once I realize it was a dream it goes away. I use the opportunity to be grateful I don’t have to feel that way anymore.

1000% !!!!!!!

20 going on 21!

Those phantom hangovers do ease away in time but it’s different for each person depending on their drinking careers and I want to say mental stability? Trauma can affect it as well which is part of the mental stability, those who drank to cope with ptsd might have a longer fight with phantom hangovers such as me but they do ease up and eventually go away almost completely. I won’t say that you’ll never have one again because I’ve heard of people with years of sobriety having them when they get close to an anniversary of a major life event or anniversary of sobriety. So you may have them in the future but the affects lessen over time and do become less frequent. I’m not saying this to scare you, I’m saying it so you’re prepared, so you can be strong if and when they happen.

I thought I was losing my mind when I had a few of these until my therapist told me the phantom hang over was actually a thing LOL. I still get them and I'll be 11 months in a few days. It's usually when I don't sleep enough! Congrats on 20 days!!!
