Day 261 (8 Months, 16 Days)
Gratitude for all of our continuing journeys as well as all the growth and expansion we are provided from our being on this path.
As I’m writing this I’m in tune with a feeling as having been away for some time, the opposite is true despite my not having posted in a while.
The last couple days (really the last couple months) has provided me with wanting to connect and tap in. Recently, Snoop Dogg, a legendary rapper announced on social media that he was abstaining from smoking weed which, for anyone who is even remotely familiar with him knows, he is/has been one of the biggest artists known for being a smoker of marijuana.
His public announcement resonated significantly for me on a few levels. One, because I’ve followed him through the entire span of his career and can only imagine how challenging and extensive his consideration to do so must have been.
Also, I love hip-hop, but i find myself more and more challenged as a fan by it being a powerful vehicle for a lot of degenerate and unswerving lifestyle behaviors that are harmful to our minds, bodies, and beings.
To have such a huge cultural icon announce that he is committing to giving up smoking is impactful in ways that we can’t even process. I look forward to having other public figures to follow suit as well (already rapper Meek Mill has shared that he will be doing so too after seeing Snoop’s announcement.
Regardless of the value folks may have for celebrities and public figures, the impact of the choices and decisions they make to the rest of the population cannot be denied.
Shout out to everyone here whether you’re on Day zero or otherwise as you, we, all have the same capacity to influence our own respective circles/eco-systems with our own unique shares. You all have been more serving to me than any celebrity in my journey and for that I am forever grateful.
As always, proud of and rooting for us all for showing up for ourselves and, by default, others . . .
