Day 27 and I’m seeing no end to brain fog

Day 27 and I’m seeing no end to brain fog and no sight of the ‘energy boost’ I was told to expect. Any ideas……?

Everyone is different. It took me almost a year to feel any sort of benefit. Withdrawals from alcohol lasted about 3 months. 3 years in, and I don’t have any issues like I did when I first gave it all up.

Thanks for sharing. My resolve is still pretty strong. Managed a night at my local cocktail bar last night with friends (risky as the owner is a friend too). Didn’t have any trouble saying no but woke up foggy again this morning and thought ‘that’s not fair’ !!

Took a few weeks for me, but personally coming off IV meth use it’s different for sure . Alcohol is a rough one . Those withdrawals lasted months for me .

I still have days where I am in a fog. Especially if I have a really long night or had a temptation. I think it’s my brain trying to punish me for not giving in. It does and will get better. You are a month in. Depending on the severity of your addiction and how long you were stuck, your brain needs to rewire itself. That’s going to take time. Make sure to keep hydrated and rest. Maybe multi vitamins?? Good luck man.

It took me probably about 9 months for the fog to lift and probably about a good full year to start to feel comfortable in my own skin. That is ok. I always get worried now when I see people with a week, 30 days, 60 days, etc who are over the moon about their life change and riding that pink cloud. The wisest women in my life, with the strongest foundation in the program always say, "I wish you a long, slow sobriety." I hated hearing that in the early days, but for me, that longer period of struggle kept me in the gift of desperation long enough to build a strong and sturdy foundation for my sobriety. It may seem hard now, but keep going. Keep taking those slow steps, one day at a time and I promise that extra work you feel like you have to do now to get out of the fog will become the unbreakable ground you need for life-long sobriety and a life beyond your wildest dreams
