Day 274 (8 Months, 29 Days)

Last night’s call helped me recognize a significant, yet subtle, aspect of this journey that had been previously under-acknowledged on my part.

The suggested discussion topic was “what’s working”, meaning what approaches have been beneficial to us in our respective processes. One of the seemingly unanimous notions was the idea of coming to meetings (which in the context of our being on the call referred to the Zoom meetings held throughout the week).

Different folks had different reasons/rationales for what the meetings provided them or how they were served in coming back. Even folks who had been away for extensive periods of time (months) cited coming back to the calls to get what they felt was serving.

I have yet to go to an AA meeting so the Zoom calls are my only current source to hear, share, observe, reflect, and process the many conversations surrounding addiction. For me, hearing real-time reflections of the experiences of others is one of the most powerful means of garnering understanding.

Additionally, verbally communicating that which would otherwise be kept inside of ourselves also creates an opportunity for healing as well as serve as a catalyst for another to experience healing as they listen and process through another’s offering.

While I’m not able to quantify this dynamic with any data or studies for the spread-sheet warriors, what is undeniable is that there’s a certain “it” (I’ll be dramatic and call it magic :sparkles:) that takes place when we engage in these spaces that has a remarkable impact on us and our ability to come back into alignment, rightness with ourselves.

I encourage everyone, especially the folks who may be challenged and in need of another approach to integrate into what they’re already doing, to tap into this incredible resource. There’s a Zoom call pretty much every day if I’m not mistaken. Check out as many as possible out to both serve and be served.

As always, rooting for us all . . . :crown::crown::crown:
