Day 59, almost 60 at 11:30 tonight. Doing step work, really taking a look at myself. Its not like I havent done it before....I've been doing it on/off for 23 years. But the fact of the matter is we only have today. "We have a daily reprieve contingent on the maintenance of our spiritual condition.” As time goes on without a drink its easy to rest on my laurels. If I don't work on my spiritual
condition every day I eventually will drink again. It's a personal fact for me. This may not hold true for everyone but it is my experience. And looking at myself and cleaning up the wreckage hurts. If I don't clean it up though I'll drink. And for me to drink is to die. It's painful but recovery has a price...and huge rewards. It might be the easier softer way but it takes work and today that work and 2 hours of writing made me sad. I'm going to take a walk and reset with a mental gratitude list. I feel vulnerable and raw, everything is deep so guess I'm on the right track.
Keep it up sober warriors.

Congrats my friend. We are on the same path. I got to the point with my addictions that I was going to die a horrible death all alone. Fortunately, there is a solution. Not only is there a solution, but it brings with it a life I always wish I could have. May we continue to work for and be blessed with the gift of sobriety
