Day 6 of sobriety

Tomorrow is day 6 of sobriety. I was sober for awhile, then old ways drifted in. I felt so confident I could handle it again, after AA’s and counseling for a year. Counseling meetings eventually wouldn’t even last an hour. Felt strongly I could drink. I cannot (I learned) and I just want it to last long term and want no more problems from this disease. How do you make sobriety last lifelong? Anyone have experience(s)?

Oh I’d love to! Thanks for the reply! And hopefully you find that group that will let you be vulnerable and express that you relapsed. I remember there were some groups I’ve been in where they kind of judged based on that. I definitely don’t, I’ve made so many mistakes regarding alcohol.

For sure! I agree! Success, happiness, belonging. I’ve got my doubts too. I understand the micro side that the higher power works in ME. Just how he works in the WORLD is a complicated subject I think.

I agree! Welcoming back the person who slipped up is definitely one of the most important aspects. Could be someone else slipping up in the future. This has been tricky for me, my family and others.

Day 6 is huge congratulations!! Find a support system to keep you accountable if you ever need someone to talk to reach out!

The only thing that works for me is taking one day at a time and putting my trust in Jessica. Best of luck on your journey

I don't know your story or your reasons for giving up alcohol, but for me personally I just think about how dangerously bad my depression had gotten, and what it could mean if I were to gamble with my mental health by drinking again - possibly leaving my fur babies without their mama, leaving my mama without her daughter, etc. I can't bear the thought. When you get that urge, try to imagine the worst possible outcome of you picking up that drink again. I don't just mean think about it, but really sit inside of that scenario and let yourself feel not only your own emotions but the emotions of your loved ones as well. Hope this helps. Best of luck :v:
