Day 6 sober

I’m really motivated to do this. I’m trying to find healthy hobbies that help me cope. I love to read and paint. Does anyone have any cool healthy hobbies they want to share?

Congrats, Lacey! When I got sober, I turned to creativity. Learned to crochet then other crafty hobbies. I also got a dog. For me, always having to go home after work to feed him was great motivation to not stop at the bar.

Welcome Lacy, congrats on 6 days sober! Reading is a great healthy hobby, especially when you’ve got yourself the AA big book. I definitely recommend getting this book. Helps me with my Sobriety. It’s a fantastic program to follow as well. Hiking/backpacking, cooking, cleaning, listening to podcasts like the school of greatness by Lewis Howes, kayaking, volunteering and helping other alcoholics/addicts who want to get sober and are willing to do anything to get what we have.
That’s pretty much where I’m at these days. Going to meetings or zoom meetings are another healthy hobby. I heard that we should have at least 5 hobbies. 1 to earn money. 1 to build your health up, gym or outdoor activity. 1 to make you mentally stronger. 1 to help you relax. 1 to help others.

I’m taking this really seriously this time around and finding out I have a lot more interests then I realized and I can have a lot of fun with new things I started fishing, writing poetry, making music, spending a lot of time on the beach. It’s funny cause if I want to use now I literally just do anything else I can think of or have available and usually find out it’s a pretty fun thing that I would do again
