5 year closet drinker here… I would average 375 ml to 500 ml a day. It’s been going on for quite a while. The first time I stopped was back in October/November of 2021. I made it 44 days before relapse. So round two started on 1/1/2020 and well that lasted a whopping 4 days.
Fast forward to last Wednesday July 20, I just got home from a business trip and thought I was alone, pulled the bottle out and started to sip, then I hear my wife say my name “what are you doing?” She asked. My heart sank. I struggled to come up with the words; “help”!was all i could muster. She walked away needing time to process.
Happy to say she has been supportive on the outside and just listening to me detail the past, when, how, where etc. today marks day five and just passed the 122hour mark. I feel it different this time, a weight has been lifted and I don’t have to hide anymore.
I know I have a long road ahead, I have been really frustrated today trying to find a support group and a new psychiatrist to help with my medications. I am all in. I am terrified. But I have hope for the first time in a long time .
Thanks for listening.
