Day 7 sober. This has been the hardest week. Yesterday

Day 7 sober. This has been the hardest week. Yesterday was my birthday and it took everything out of me to not fall into old ways. I went to AA, and I’m still feeling like I’m losing friends because I can’t go out, and don’t know what to feel or how this is going to go :frowning: support needed !

It gets less difficult with time and experience. You have the insight and grace let it keep you guided! O2-28-2OO2

Good evening Kaitlyn!!!!! It does suck at first. But it gets better as time goes like John Lee says. But one thing I learned when I first wanted to recovery. Was you have to change people places and things in order for this to actually help you. If you hang out with your friends that still drink you go out with them you’re done you’re drinking. If you go into a bar to be with friends you’re done you’re drinking as well. But it does get easier and better. You’re doing the right thing by asking for help. That’s why were one big family we all need help from time to time. I know I do and I have a few years sober. And another thing I’ve heard an awful lot of.
It works if you work it’s at work at because you’re worth it.

Here’s a little prayer to say.

God grant me the serenity to except the things I cannot change the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.
Use that little prayer whenever you need it you it works. Go to meetings and find a sponsor in a meeting that you love to go to.

Thank you for the kind words!

Thank you so much for the kind words!!! It is rough, but I can do it. I’ve been doing my AA meetings everyday and call my sponsor when I’m feeling down! Thank you so much!

So sorry you are struggling but the early stages of sobriety do have some hard moments and even harder choices. Distance from friends and situations is part of it if they trigger. Learning your coping skills to move around temptations and urges is next. It gets harder before it gets easier but you can do this. Lean on your support system and your faith in yourself. I'm proud of you friend

Happy belated. One day at a time. You can do it!

Kaitlyn
How are you feeling now?
I was able to remove the urges and cravings not only to drink but chewing tobacco and caffeine. I believe it’s because of steps 1, 2 & 3 of AA.
You got this. Meditation, breathing techniques and faith. We do recover.

Happy belated birthday, Kaitlyn! Celebrating your health and happiness :tada:

I just started over last Sunday from almost 4 months sober. Keep moving forward and if you fall pick yourself back up and keep on it. We got this!

I was never the bar or nightclub person. That makes hard for me to relate. I will say a good friend will try to understand and help. That's who I have left as friends. They don't look down or berate me for my problem.
Happy birthday Kaitlyn it gets better and you will have many more sober birthdays

Meetings meetings however you feel go to a meeting.!!!!!

Sobriety is the best thing that ever happened to me. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and you got this!

Thank you!

Wow ! Day 6 for me tomorrow. How I got to day 6 is not necessarily a proud story! Anyway, from my experience, the friends that tempt you to drink a lot or ALWAYS ask you why you aren’t….they don’t get it, and need to. Keep them as friends, yet, tell them how you’re feeling! Sober activities like hiking, carnivals, paintball, gun range, archery can be just as fun. Outdoor movie night, fires. I feel like you just have to be creative.
