Day one. Again.
Baby steps stay positive
Alexis, it’s ok you slipped, but most importantly you got back up. That my friends deserve a statue in the center of town. Write down how you were feeling, what was going thru your mind, how you argued you with yourself, after reread and rethink what we’ve could have done differently
I’m no therapist by no means but thru the journey I did take notes
Somebody once told me that the numbers are great (talking about sober time) but not to get to wrapped up in those number because regardless of how many days we have, it’s still one day at a time for everyone.
Alexis, so happy you reached out here
for me, the hardest thing to do was to admit defeat. But for me it has been the beginning of lots of good stuff.
And Mitchell is right… it is always just one day at a time, sometimes one minute at a time, because this diseases is insidious and can talk us into anything. The trick is to fill your head up with other voices. I call my sponsor every day, and talk to several other alcoholics daily. These days with zoom, you can find AA meetings (or NA, if that’s your flavor) at any time of the day. It can be fun to virtually travel the world. I have dropped in on zoom meetings in Australia at five in the morning when they’re on the other side of the day
Hey, friend. You lived through this last relapse, and you’re taking the first step. That’s good. Sometimes a shift in perspective is all we need. You’re moving forward! Sending hugs!
I agree! I think that each time i relapse, I’m still better off than before i even tried for long term sobriety.
Nice! I love the zoom option!! Idk why, but I’m nervous to try one out. But that is my goal this week, actually. To just join one meeting.
