But how many days did you have prior that weren’t drinking? Every time will get easier and easier. I think it took me 5-6 times (with 1-3 mos of sober) until I felt that I can really do it. If you really want it-you can do it.

Not many…. I did have 8 months last year but thought I could control it. Of course not true…

Had the same feeling a month ago. It took me realizing that the only thing I could control was if it went into my body or not.

Wow 8 mos is crazy good! You obviously don’t need any advice, but hang tough and know there are people that have your back!

It happens. It matters what you do today, can’t change what has already been. Get back at it.

When you're on a road trip and you get a flat tire, you don't turn around and go home, you change the tire and go on.

Treat yourself with kindness and compassion. You’re being honest, and you’re still trying. That takes a lot more strength than giving up. Sending hugs.

Tomorrow will be Day 2 and you're wiser for your stumble. Right?? Make sure you break it down. They usually start many days or weeks before the actual slip.

So grateful you have the courage to come back and to admit it here openly! Healing is not linear

Wow 8 mos is a long time. I honestly hope I can do that. There must have been something going on stronger for you to slip. This time, I’m reading The untethered soul and it’s really helping me understand why I keep going back to drinking-very eye opening. Funny because the book has nothing to do with drinking.

I may need to read it! I had help from an OVI to not drink. I went back to it because I thought if I can stop for 8 months obviously I don’t have a serious problem and obviously I can control it. Ummm no it just doesn’t work that way for “us”.

My sister didn’t drink for 3 years and then her sponsor told her she really didn’t have a problem-ugh-then she went back to drinking. Now she’s close to a bottle of wine a night.

That's a great amount of time. You can do it again.
