Day one. Every day I say I'll stop but I don't. So saying it again and meaning it.

Have you gone to any type of meeting? There are several different programs. I would recommend trying a few. For me AA works. Hope you find the peace you are searching for.

I have not been to any meetings. I have heard of AA but I don't know of any other programs. What are they?

I only know about AA
AA is a step group. We work on getting to the root of the problems that caused us to drink, by working with a sponsor and reading various publications to help ourselves. I wish I could talk intelligently about the other groups but I don’t want to give any bad info, and I just don’t know. There are plenty of people here who do use other programs. There are a few apps you could get that are free and tell you where meetings are in your area. ā€œMeeting Guideā€ and ā€œin the roomsā€ are the best I have seen.

Thank you Tim! I will check those out.

You can find virtual meetings online, too. I prefer those in the morning with my coffee and my banana. Search for ā€˜online AA meetings’ and you’ll likely get a bunch of sites. Also, if you have been drinking for a long period of time, do you think you might need medical assistance in stopping? Maybe detox? If that’s a possibility, you should find a center right away, and if you can’t get to one of those, even an ER would be better than doing this alone. Sending virtual hugs to you, friend.

Put in the work - be selfish with recovery and sobriety - do the step work

Thank you Cheechen. I have meds to take from my first attempt at this so I'm good there in terms of detox. I like the idea of virtual meetings. I will look into that. I really do appreciate the support.

That’s what we’re all here for, sweetie, to recover and have support while doing it.
