Day three under way

Today is the beginning of day three. My boss went sober about a year ago and that’s helping motivate me. I have to be honest, I feel like poo lol. Haven’t slept well in a couple nights, but I also didn’t get good sleep while drinking. I know it will get better with time. I just have to keep at it or I’ll never know.

It will get better and it is a blessing that your boss went sober.
If you get any cravings today, remember why you are doing this, Bosco.
Play tapes forward.

Precisely what you relayed…you will never know if you do not try / go for sobriety.

You will …
Save money.
Lose weight.
Be present.
Gain time ( and eventually sleep ).
Just for starters.
Life improves.
It takes some time.

Respecting yourself is so much better than wasting time, energy, money on allowing alcohol to rob you of the myriad of good and beautiful experiences which life has to offer.

Wishing you the best.
Be so proud and please keep going, Bosco!

Thank you so much. I’ve already wasted enough time, money, and relationships. I’m already 42 and don’t want to wake up one day and realize I’ve wasted my entire life.

I was around your age Bosco when I started down this path of sobriety.
I have had missteps, relapses…I became complacent, would relapse and each climb out of the utter h - l l became harder and harder…each consequence became worse. So right.
At 48, I woke up on a January morning in 2022 and decided that I was done with committing a form of slow suicide. Bottom line being…we deserve the good things which life has to offer and alcohol steals snd deceives. Rooting for you. Definitely keep us posted, Bosco!

…and beyond welcome, Bosco…congratulations on choosing to be there for yourself and go for all that you deserve!

Thanks Sarim. I needed to hear this now. The nights are always what draw me back in.

Stay with it bro! Going sober and removing alcohol from my life was best decision I ever made. Took a while to really start feeling better and getting the benefits but so worth it now

3 days is huge. Keep it up!!!

Sleep is a big hurdle in beginning sobriety for many of us...perhaps my biggest as I used alcohol to sleep eventually :unamused:.
Naturally, melatonin works for some. I've had better success with CBD gummies and GABA supplements. A few others a neuroscientist recommends are magnesium threonate, L-threanine, and Apigenin if you can afford all 3 great . Apigenin is a GABA pathway agonist so I'd go with that if just one of the three. Prescription wise I've taken clonidine, Clonazepam ang trazadone with mixed results. Seraquel and hydroxyzine were prescribed in my last rehab stint and they seem to do the trick but too strong for some. For reference, Im male, 180 lbs...100 mg Seraquel with 25 mg hydroxyzine (Vistaril) with Apigenin supplement is what I currently take and it knocks me out despite my ridiculous tolerance. Holler at me if you wanna know anything about any of this...I've been researching and taking various meds over 7 yrs of sobriety w/ a few relapses and extremely bad insomnia the whole time. Also, exercise does wonders if possible. Good luck

Congrats on your third day sober Bosco! I'm happy you are on the sobriety journey and found a close person to share this journey with! Sleep can be tough to be regulated, especially when undergoing stress; however, practicing exercise or seeking a professional may help you in getting a better sleep schedule, you got this!
