Day two being sober, what to avoid and expect on early on this journey??
Booze and drugs
Heavy emotions, just remember it’s only temporary
Ok
You will feel alot of emotions like irritated tired angry sad have lots of cravings but you can do it push through it is so worth it in the end. Find things to distract you and keep you busy
Whole bunch of extra time. Don’t forget to eat Thank God for your day
I avoided all the people I used with, the places I hung out while I used and anything that reminds me of my usage. Only had to change one thing….everything!! This took a lot of practice and a lot of relapses before I got it!! Hopefully you don’t have to suffer like I did
Avoid the people, places and things that would get you drunk and/or loaded.
Emotions will run crazy. Just remember that with drugs and alcohol you suppressed them. Now that there's no alcohol to suppress them they will come to the surface.
What to do: lots of meetings and get a sponsor. Do the steps. It’ll really help!
What to watch out for: boredom, rollercoaster emotions, insomnia, bizarre & vivid dreams, anxiety and regret.
All this will pass. Only golden rule: WE DONT USE OR PICK UP NO MATTER WHAT🙏
I know others have said it: but people, places, and things. Family, friends, etc. It's not worth it at all. This is your lifestyle and it needs to be respected. People are able to do that.
Day 2, huge congrats! Try to avoid places or people that might tempt you. Stay hydrated, eat some good, you be surprised how much this helps. Wish I took this and hydration more seriously in the beginning. That including getting rest. keep your mind busy. Be kind to yourself, you’re stronger than you feel right now!
Agreed re: everything above! I really benefited from attending as many meetings (online and in person) as I had energy for, drank lots of juices and fizzy drinks, read a TON of fiction to fill the time, journaled with my sobriety days at the top of each entry and just jotted down how I was feeling. Hope this helps! We’re here for you!
Music!!! You might cry to a random song and not know why, but it’s really therapeutic.
