Dealing with depression sober

Was feeling down yesterday - some lonliness/depression crept in. I'm proud of myself for being able to sit with and process those feelings, reach out and talk with someone instead of drinking over them. Woke up this morning still feeling a bit sad/depressed but at the same time grateful I get to be sober through the ups and downs  I know that having a busy day today at work and around people will help! Thankful for the tools, self awareness and prospective I continue to gain in my recovery. I hope everyone has a great Friday!

Molly I know how you feel. Sometimes I wonder where the strength come from to deal with bad days, but it’s there. Stay strong, and know that using will NOT take the depression, or loneliness away it will make it worse. Have a blessed day, and .

Thanks Michael! I'm really thankful to be in a place where I have tools to help deal with my depression instead of turning to alcohol. A tough day sober is 100000% better than any day using  and you are right - drinking always exacerbates the lonliness. Have a blessed day too!

Thanks for sharing Molly  I feel the same way, and it just hits out of nowhere. I do the some of the same things you do to get thru these feelings. Not sure if I’m starting to just accept and live with these moments, or if I need to do more work to avoid these feelings. Probably a little if both so that the loneliness doesn’t hit as often or as hard. It’s definitely gotten much better over the past 11 months for me. Sounds like you’re learning a lot too. Great job, and thanks again for sharing.

It's difficult and we all struggle with something but remember each day is a new day and it's ok to reach out to anyone on here or in real life for support. It's important to have all of those important things and people who can help you keep on the path. Just remember you are bettering yourself each day

I can relate to this as well. I'm in a miserable place mentally/emotionally right now and it has me in full fight/flight mode, and doing this sober is new to me. But I'm doing it.

I'm just tired of being transferred doctors. Each time I get transferred they put me on something new, even if I say what I'm on is working. It's causing havoc. I rather just stop the docs and mess all together. Hope all are doing ok.

I can relate so easily to this! I often struggle, I was able to go off my meds and can manage my depression, but some days it's pretty shitty. I'm almost 11 months and won't turn back, but sometimes I remember it was so much easier on anti depressants and alcohol. But sober is the right way for me!
