Dear Peanut,

Dear Peanut,
That’s what Dad calls you. His little peanut. And that’s what you are right now. Just a little girl, completely oblivious to the dark times that lie ahead. You’re just a child, so your life should be full of innocence. Rainbows, princesses, unicorns. You should feel safe & protected. Safe to grow, safe to learn. But unfortunately, that’s not always the case. I’m writing to you as a grown woman. Yup, we’re grown now. Not much taller, you’re still only five feet tall. But older. Wiser. I would say stronger, but we’ve always been strong. We’ve had to be strong in order to get this far. I wish I could give you a hug, and let you know that everything will be alright. But I don’t want to lie to you. Things aren’t always alright. People will see the light in you. They will see that you are good, and that your heart is big. And unfortunately, some of those people will try to rob you of your light. And they will come close. They will come dangerously close to extinguishing your flame. I’m here to tell you that you’re not going to let them. They don’t get to win. You will keep growing. You will keep healing. Somehow, you will survive some truly horrible things, and you will emerge with tools to help others. To help others succeed where you preciously failed. That will be your gift. That will be your superpower. To love others, to help others. To wrap them up so tight, that they will never have to fear the same darkness that plagued you. You are going to do some many beautiful things, Peanut. We’re just getting started. You’re two months sober, baby girl. And I’m so proud of you.

I love everything about this! You keep after it baby girl, you're doing awesome!

Great work Rachel! This takes a lot of strength and courage! You are on the right path. Keep healing and growing. These are the promises of recovery. It’s not just about stopping the drinking/drugging. We did all that just to numb and cope with the pain. We need to do more than just put the place g in the jug if we want to live happy, joyous and free. We need to dig deep and heal the wounds, and change our entire life. Keep it up…ODAAT :peace_symbol:

Rachel you are a powerhouse of a woman. I have no doubt you can do this. My prayers are with you.
