Dealing with the same thing. I try and stay busy. Sometimes you have to force yourself to get up and do things.

Yeah I find that when I’m busy it’s easier but as soon as I have down time it all comes back flooding

I know the feeling. Especially at night when it’s all you can feel. I want to say it gets better. I’ve been through it before and it eventually got better.

Working out and attitude of gratitude

Oh that’s easy! I go do service work in the sober community. There are tons of H&I panels and in person meetings to be of help, and this may sound corny but when I’m helping others I forget about my depression. The unconditional support and love I put out there fixes my bullshittt😁. It’s better than any drug I’ve ever taken. Try it.
Also I’ve done service in other ways. The Children’s hospital on the terminal ward made my depression seem so petty that I felt ashamed. Unconditional service is real love in ACTION! Love truly does conquer allšŸ’—

I totally agree with you 1 million percent! I believe more and more people are realizing this. The more you seclude yourself the more you get attacked by depression and anxiety and then want to self medicate.

Danny W couldn’t have said it better. I totally agree with him.

Chocolate and my best fiend

How are you doing today with regards to depression, Anjelica?

Youre not alone in that struggle. Many people find that depression can feel more noticeable in sobriety becuz theyre no longer numbing it. Have you found anything that's helped even a little? For me, getting out for a walk is one of the first things I do. The fresh air seems to calm my mind and lift my mood, even if it's just a little.

When I experience depression, I go on a long walk. Often I won’t want to get up and go on a walk, but I feel better when I do.
