Unfortunately I currently don’t have insurance and have no low fee detox facilities nearby. I’m scared of going cold turkey since my body and mind are addicted. I believe my best bet now is weening off. It’s not preferable but I feel it’s my only method of getting off booze safely. I’d supplement this regularly by attending meetings.
Cold Turkey Can be Very Dangerous!
Deadly!
I Highly Suggest Consulting with a Professional Near You…
I have witnessed many seizures, cause TBI’s, jaundice, & even a peer biting his own younger off as he hit the washing machine…
Weaning off is in my opinion a much safer option, Harm reduction!
I went from a half galling 100 proof vodka a day to wean off I cut it down in 1/2 each day until I felt safe…
I feel like maybe Try & find a Recovery Community Organization near you and ask them for resources….
Christopher is right it’s dangerous. If you aren’t able to go to rehab ask a dr for help or have someone you trust help you taper safely if you don’t think you can do it alone. Good luck be safe
Joe, your in my prayers today. Going cold turkey from alcohol is deadly. It’s one of 2 substances that can kill you when you quit. You should call 911 or get a ride to your closest ER. I’m very serious. Tell them the reason and symptoms, they have to treat you and more than likely will transfer you to a detox. When you get the bill ignore it for the time being. Medical bills cannot effect your credit. If they don’t guide you into a rehab after I suggest you get to an AA meeting immediately and go to them as often as possible seeking their guidance.
Go to a county hospital ER and tell them you need a medical detox. They will help. Legally they are required to. When asked to set up a payment plan, be honest and work with them. Good luck man.
I am not sure where you located or your exact situation. The Louisiana state Medicaid system is free for people with low income. The income limit is not that low. Most detox’s and rehabs here take Medicaid. There may be something similar where you are. Also talk to some AAmembers and addicts. They may know of some where or something that could help.
