I was really starting to see the effects of my alcoholism around January of 2020. Getting locked-down made alcohol pretty difficult to get… the shelves were pretty empty at the grocery stores and when the liquor stores opened, the lines were ungodly long.
I went a long while without anything. I missed it, but there really was nothing I could do. For me, it was a good thing.
But then the bars opened on a limited basis. That probably really kicked my alcoholism up a notch. I was bad before, but late 2020 brought out a whole new drinker in me. I think I was afraid that everything could close the next day and I was making sure I took advantage of what time I had.
