Today is my day 1 and I really want to quit drinking. All it does is make me feel bad every single time. I am disappointed in myself for drinking yesterday and wish I could take it back, but I’m hopeful that I can do it this time.
You can do it! You got this just breathe and stay super busy !
Hello Nicole, we have all been there. If you'd like to check out something that completely turned the tables for me, there's a book I read called 'Alan Carr's quit drinking without willpower'. It illustrates how the benefits that we would seek and weigh against drawbacks are all illusions, so that there is no mental struggle any more since there is no reason to put poison in our bodies that doesn't do anything good for us.
Also, you can totally do this.
I’m newly sober 32 days after 14 years of drinking daily. My sober coach tells me all the time “live today because you may not have a tomorrow”. That struck a nerve with me and haven’t drank since I got her. You got this!
Interesting.
I knew a young woman in the program once who had almost 3 years and one day, word was that she passed away. Apparently, she had a brain aneurysm in the middle of the night. Never got to say goodbye to her. She left behind three beautiful young girls and no husband.
I've been around AA since the late eighties, and I've known several people throughout the years who relapsed and never made it back. They either got killed, took their own lives, or died of alcohol poisoning.
We always think it only happens to other people and never us.
You should go to AA meetings in your area. I would recommend going to 90 meetings in 90 days to see what AA is all about and if you are a good fit. At the end of 90 days, if you don't feel that you belong, we will gladly refund your misery.
You never have to drink again!
