Being discharged and frightened, advice?
Pray a lot and breathe
Keep talking.
Take a deep breath. You CAN do this!!! We can do hard things . If it’s alcohol that you are struggling with then I encourage you to look up Annie Grace. She’s the best when it comes to freedom from alcohol. Her program worked for me. She has a podcast too & answers readers questions on YouTube. I read both of her books. She’s great! I also downloaded her app on my phone called This Naked Mind Companion app.
I will pray for you. Good luck
Please don’t be afraid. There are so many amazing groups and meetings out there. Keep connecting here. There are zoom meetings all day. Sober communities are bigger than ever. Where are you from if you don’t mind me asking. Maybe we can chat. Stay strong it gets better one day at a time.
I also was emotional when I left rehab because we all became great friends. Some of us still keep in touch through social media and check on each other.
Breath.
Love the smile, Lynn. Have you ever noticed how when you smile, it can be seen in your eyes.
How about writing me a poem or a story. I’ve written three this weekend.
I hope you like this one.
Forgotten Fear.
My only fear,
Is not holding you near,
Straight as an arrow,
I walk straight and narrow,
In my dreams we dance slowly,
Your voice whispers lowly,
I love you forever,
Leaving you never,
These tears you see,
Come from you holding me,
My heart is a flutter,
It melts like butter,
A lifetime I’ve lived,
Hoping for this gift,
Inside this crucible,
This crucible of you,
Knowing the contents,
You’re wrapped so beautifully,
To hold you while dancing,
Please forgive me for glancing,
No dimes no dollars,
To you it’s no bother,
My heart are your riches,
I see now what love is,
I’m never hungry,
I’m never lonely,
Your love feeds me,
Your love accompanies me,
When I walk the streets,
Your hand is in mine,
You may not be present,
Although here in my mind,
My smile is now permanent,
Like a golden metal stake,
My dreams assure me,
I’ll smile when I wake,
Dancing all night,
Slowly amongst the stars,
I only need to be,
Wherever you are,
I now do not fear,
Never holding you near,
Your heart has assured me,
You’ll always be here,
Forgotten Fear.
Frydmfytr:
Hey Lynn! Welcome home! If you haven’t yet, I would make sure to attend a meeting ASAP. I know AA has a meeting guide app to find local meetings in your area and there is this site for Zoom meetings around the clock: https://aa-intergroup.org Definitely build a network and remember that this community is here for you!
You can do it! Take things day by day or even minute by minute if needed! And keep reaching out for help and support!
Before I left rehab, everyone said to go to a meeting as soon as possible and get there early and talk to people and tell them you’re new. That was the best advice. People were there to help me and give me their phone numbers. It helped me get through the hardest days when I got home.
Those feelings are completely normal! This whole sobriety journey is a process. It gets better. We are all here to support you! I have just a little over 2 years sober so I remember feeling the same way!
How are you doing Lynn?
Lynn, your adventure begins, so be excited! I went to a ton of different AA meeting all over and built relationships with sober folks of all kinds. These crazy but great people became my chosen family! Service brought me true purpose and love.
I’m excited for you and anyone that chooses to be part of the solution. Have fun in sobriety and be of service. You got this!
Reach out to me anytime.
Hi sweetie Hang in there! Remember “One day, one hour, one minute at a time”. Take care of yourself like you would a sick friend. You are beautiful, you are strong, you are worthy. You got this!
So nice to see you smile! This is great news. Go out there and be the very best that you are!
Keep active and connected with other sober friends. Go to meetings and share. Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable and reach out for help when you need it. Leaving rehab is the beginning of your journey to live your best life. You’re amazing!!
Make sure you've got someone besides yourself to answer n be accountable to. Practice self care and do all these things the others said! You are strong!
