Two Sundays ago I hurt my back at work. The assistant manager mentioned urgent care but I declined. I toughed it out to the end of the shift. Next day, lasted two hours, then went to VA emergency room. They gave me a shot of Toridol (after I confirmed it wasn't painkiller) and light duty for four days. Work told me I couldn't work with light duty, so I took the days off. I followed their instructions: ice, ibuprofen, rest. Worked Monday (two days ago) and it was tough but I made it. Off Tuesday, then back today. I lasted three hours and now I'm back to the ER.
The big discouragement is that, now that it's become a thing they're talking about firing me because I'm "not meeting standards". I mentioned L&I to the HR lady Monday and I wonder if that triggered it.
I have employment barriers due to my bad behaviors while in addiction. So I worry that if I lose this job, who will hire me. This is a well- known 'fourth chance' employer. (That's a joke riffing on 'second chance' employer.)
One of my main mental health issues is cPTSD which looks like anxiety and depression together. In my world, the sky is always falling. So I'm struggling to maintain hope that life will work out. I believe that it will, but I don't feel that it will.
Get in the steps and trust the process. Stay sober no matter what. Your HP didnโt bring you all this way to drop you on your head.
Thanks Matt, you're right.
Yeah, listen to Matt. Trust the process. Take care of your back 1st.
The jobs will come and go but the fact that you have trust me you're stuck with it for the rest of your life whether you like it or not and not liking it is a bad place to be in.
Hey you can get in touch with me if you donโt mind getting to know each other and see where it will lead us to
I wish I had gone L&I immediately. It would have provided some protection. And you're right. Like Matt said, Hashem didn't bring me this far to abandon me now.
Hey bud donโt be discouraged there are lots of things that can help. Not saying you should do this but I hurt my back badly in 2020 and they wanted to do surgery when 6 months of physical therapy did nothing. So after long discussions with my primary care I instead cut all carbs and sugars for a month. Within a week the pain was gone after a month I had lost 45 lbs and was stronger than before. Just a thought sugar and carbs are brutal on the body.
David Iโm praying Refuah Shlemah for you. Keep the faith mishpasha. Do the mitzvot, Hashem will guide you.
